ALEXANDRIA, La. (2/5/2026) – LSUA enrollment record Spring 2026 was set as Louisiana State University of Alexandria welcomed 7,728 students. The figure represents an 11.9% increase over Spring 2025 and the highest official enrollment in the university’s history.
The Spring 2026 enrollment milestone continues LSUA’s multi-year growth trend. The university also recorded spring-over-fall growth for the third consecutive year, a rare outcome in higher education.
LSUA’s performance stands out against national trends. The National Student Clearinghouse reported U.S. postsecondary enrollment rose by about 2% nationwide. Most four-year universities still experience enrollment declines between fall and spring semesters. LSUA avoided that decline and expanded instead, positioning itself among the fastest-growing undergraduate institutions in the country.
Growth at Louisiana State University of Alexandria is driven by demand for flexible learning options. Online enrollment increased to 4,801 students, a 20.5% rise in one year. On-campus enrollment also grew by 10.4%, reflecting continued interest in campus life, expanding facilities, and student support services.
LSUA Chancellor Paul Coreil said students and families are choosing institutions with clear value. He noted that affordability, relevance, and workforce alignment are central to LSUA’s appeal. Coreil said LSUA graduates leave prepared for meaningful careers that support Louisiana’s economic development.
National data reinforces that trend. Recent enrollment gains across higher education favor institutions offering affordability, flexibility, and workforce relevance. In an NPR report, Lumina Foundation executive Courtney Brown said public confidence in higher education is returning selectively. She said cost, flexibility, and career outcomes shape how people evaluate college value.
LSUA reflects those priorities. As Louisiana’s most affordable four-year public university, LSUA reports rising graduation rates and 100% job placement in several high-demand fields. Its undergraduate-only mission supports focused advising, smaller class experiences, and programs aligned with workforce needs in central Louisiana and across the state.
LSUA Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and Student Engagement Abbey Bain credited coordinated internal efforts for the enrollment growth. Bain said faculty and staff prioritize the full student journey, from recruitment to graduation. She said students choose LSUA because they feel supported, known, and prepared.
LSUA students now represent all 64 Louisiana parishes, all 50 states, and 28 countries. The enrollment reflects the university’s expanding reach as an accessible public institution serving learners at every stage.
As LSUA continues to grow, Spring 2026 marks more than a numerical milestone. The enrollment record reflects expanded access, stronger outcomes, and a redefinition of success in public higher education.
