BATON ROUGE, LA (July 19, 2024) – Late on the night of July 18, 2024, the Louisiana State Police (LSP) were notified that the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) was investigating a single-vehicle crash involving an off-duty LSP Lieutenant. The crash occurred on Interstate 10 near Perkins Road.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 51-year-old Prentiss “Trey” Bellue. During the investigation, Bellue displayed signs of impairment. As a result, BRPD officers arrested Bellue and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated – 1st Offense.
At the time of the crash, Bellue was off-duty and driving his personal vehicle. He is currently assigned to the LSP Crisis Response Section and has been employed with the Louisiana State Police since 1998.
Following the incident, Bellue has been placed on administrative leave. All law enforcement property will be recovered pending the conclusion of both criminal and administrative investigations.
