Rayne, LA (May 6, 2025) — The Rayne police officer shot and killed Monday afternoon is now the subject of a Louisiana State Police (LSP) investigation.
At approximately 2:00 p.m., the Rayne Police Department requested LSP detectives to investigate an officer-involved shooting on East Harrop Street.
Authorities confirmed that one officer was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives with the LSP Bureau of Investigations are currently processing the scene and collecting further information.
The Rayne police officer shot and killed incident remains an active investigation.
