PINEVILLE, La. (1/17/2025) – Randy Wiggins, a local businessman and former Louisiana State Representative, has officially announced his candidacy for the Rapides Police Jury District B in the upcoming special election.
Wiggins, who narrowly missed winning the same race by just three votes in the last election, is energized by overwhelming community encouragement to step back into the race. “Police jury is very important to me, and having served in state government, I saw how critical local government is in shaping our community,” said Wiggins.
“Attracting businesses, addressing crime, and improving our infrastructure all land at the feet of our Rapides Police Jury.” Wiggins brings a wealth of experience and a dedicated network from his previous election, positioning him as a strong contender in this special election race.
In his announcement, Wiggins emphasized his vision for Rapides Parish:
“I believe Rapides Parish is positioned for growth, but we have some challenges we must tackle. One of the key challenges we need to address is the outward migration of people from our parish. Rapides Parish has lost population, and the best way to reverse this trend is to attract businesses and make people feel safe.
My focus is on making Rapides Parish the number one place to do business in the state of Louisiana. This means simplifying the process for businesses to establish themselves here, addressing the crime in our parish, and continuing to improve our infrastructure.”
