Marksville, LA (9/9/2023) – The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) reported a juvenile was arrested for school bombs and shooting threats.
On the morning of September 8, 2023, an APSO investigation into the recent Bomb/Shooting threats made toward Marksville Elementary School staff and students resulted in the issuance of multiple search warrants and the subsequent identification and arrest of the suspect.
The culmination of numerous interviews and search warrants resulted in the suspect, a juvenile male from Marksville, LA, being arrested for the offense of Terrorizing (3 counts). The threats were made on Social Media Platforms by the use of multiple fake accounts on at least three occasions in 2023. During the investigation, APSO sought assistance from the Marksville Police Department, the FBI, the Louisiana State Police, the LA Attorney General’s Office, the Tunica-Biloxi Tribal Police, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This multi-agency team worked diligently to identify the perpetrator, and to keep our students and teachers safe.
Sheriff David L. Dauzat thanked all of the law enforcement agencies that assisted APSO in the investigation and the officers who risked their own lives to help search the school for explosive devices. He also thanked the many students, parents, and concerned citizens who cooperated and assisted APSO and Marksville PD throughout the investigation.
