Joint Policing Operation in Alexandria: Heavy Patrols by Multiple Agencies

Alexandria, LA (8/9/2024) – Residents across Alexandria reported heavy police patrols in various neighborhoods this week. The joint policing operation in Alexandria involved units from the Alexandria Police Department, Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana State Police.

On Wednesday, August 7th, witnesses observed a police pursuit that ended near Houston and Wise Streets. A helicopter was seen surveying the area, adding to the heightened activity.

On Thursday, August 8th, residents and commuters on North MacArthur Drive, Enterprise Road, Monroe, and Tennessee Streets witnessed an increased police presence. Police pulled over vehicles and surrounded buildings, appearing to search for a specific individual. Both marked and unmarked units participated in the operation in Alexandria. A witness also reported the use of drones.

A Louisiana State Troopers spokesperson confirmed that a joint policing operation in Alexandria was ongoing, in collaboration with RPSO and APD.
