Pineville, LA (6/15/2025) – Around 6:40 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, UrbanCast began receiving multiple reports of a high-speed chase traveling north along Louisiana Highway 1, also known as North Bolton Avenue.
Witnesses reported seeing Louisiana State Troopers, Alexandria Police Department (APD), Pineville Police Department (PPD), and Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO) involved in the pursuit.
According to the Pineville Police Department, the chase began at approximately 6:21 PM when a PPD officer observed a black Nissan Maxima with Connecticut plates traveling 76 mph in a 50 mph zone. When the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over, prompting a multi-agency pursuit.
Louisiana State Police successfully deployed spike strips to disable the fleeing vehicle. A State Police helicopter, already in the area from a prior engagement, provided aerial support. The pursuit ended in the 6300 block of Bayou Rapides Road, where both occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.
The driver, identified as Latanya Scarlett of Hartford, Connecticut, is facing multiple charges including aggravated flight from an officer. The male passenger is also being held as law enforcement works to confirm his identity.
A spokesperson for Pineville PD stated, “We are always appreciative of the assistance we receive from surrounding agencies, including the Louisiana State Police, whose support played a key role in the safe resolution of this incident.”
