Marksville, LA (12/13/2024) – Howard Williams funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at St. Mary Congregational Baptist Church in Marksville. Howard “Spin Kidd” Williams, age 18, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024.
The service celebrating Howard’s life will begin at 10:00 am, with Pastor Vernon James officiating. Public viewing and visitation will start at 9:00 am and continue until the service begins. Howard will be laid to rest in the Church of Deliverance-Home of Eternal Rest Cemetery immediately following the service.
Howard Williams, a 2024 graduate of Marksville High School, was fatally shot by an Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office detective on November 25, 2024. The incident occurred during an investigation near the Bethune Community Center in Marksville.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the deputy discharged his firearm during an encounter on Scallan Street involving multiple individuals. He was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Howard’s mother publicly identified her son and shared the devastating impact of his loss. She described him as a young man with a bright future and revealed he was scheduled to work at Walmart the evening of the incident. Her grief is a reminder of the profound loss felt by family and friends in the wake of this tragedy.
