A cold front will continue its eastward trek during the morning hours on Friday.
Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, are expected until the front departs in the early afternoon. Some light showers may linger in the afternoon and early evening.
Much cooler temperatures can be expected in the wake of the front, with highs across interior southeast Texas and west-central Louisiana only warming into the mid-50s. Where the front crosses later, temperatures will begin the day on the warm side (in the 70s) before they fall sharply with the passage of the front.
Winds behind the front will be elevated and from the north at 15 to 20 mph, and gusts to 30 mph or more are expected.
