BATON ROUGE, LA (4/22/2025) — The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is hosting its 14th Annual Boating Education Lagniappe Day on Saturday, April 26, with free boater safety courses offered at nine locations across the state.
The event is part of a statewide effort to promote safe boating practices ahead of the busy summer season. The course is free to the public and includes instruction, National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA)certification, and lunch. Some locations will also offer door prizes.
Anyone born after January 1, 1984, is legally required to complete a NASBLA-approved course before operating a vessel on Louisiana’s public waters. The course is recognized in all states that require NASBLA certification.
LDWF urges residents to register soon, as spots are still available but limited. Registration is available online at:
