CLARENCE, La. (3/23/2025) – The shooting at Clarence Trail Ride remains under investigation after four individuals were wounded on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
At approximately 7:47 PM, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple calls about gunfire off Catholic Lane in Clarence. Sheriff Stuart Wright confirmed that the incident occurred during a large trail ride event attended by over 1,000 people.
Deputies arrived to find a chaotic scene and heavy traffic congestion. Four gunshot victims from Shreveport were located.
A 16-year-old male and a 22-year-old woman were both transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Another 16-year-old male was transported to a regional trauma center. A 20-year-old male was airlifted to a trauma center for treatment.
Emergency personnel, including the Air EVAC Life Team and local EMS, responded quickly.
Detective Major J. Byles stated that the shooting at Clarence Trail Ride is being jointly investigated by NPSO’s Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations.
Officials confirmed that suspects fled the area before law enforcement arrived. No arrests have been made.
The scene was processed for over three hours using specialized lighting provided by Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #9.
Authorities noted that no security details had been shared with the Sheriff’s Office prior to the event. Private security had been hired by the organizers.
