Bunkie, LA (8/27/2023) – Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office reported four juvenile males escaped from the Acadiana Center for Youth in Bunkie, Louisiana.
APSO Deputies with Tracking K9 “Queen” captured two of the escapees. Both are back in the custody of OJJ. The other escapees are a 15-year-old from Grant Parish and a 16-year-old from Calcasieu Parish.
At around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, Avoyelles 911 Communication Center received a report of an escape from the Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) facility in Bunkie, LA.
The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Department of Corrections, Louisiana State Police, and other local police agencies responded to assist in locating the escapees. APSO and the LA Dept. of Corrections have been tracking K9s on the ground in search of the escapees.
Sheriff David L. Dauzat would like to ask anyone with information or observing suspicious activity in the area to report it immediately to APSO by calling 318-253-4000 or 911 for an emergency. He also advises people in the area to take the extra precautions of locking their vehicles and homes.
