Flash Flood Emergency Declared in Breaux Bridge Area

Breaux Bridge, LA (June 2, 2024) – A flash flood emergency has been declared for the Breaux Bridge area, including Cecilia, Henderson, and surrounding communities in southeastern St. Landry and northwestern St. Martin Parishes. The warning remains in effect until 9 PM CDT this evening.

At 6:13 PM CDT, Doppler radar detected severe thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall across the affected areas. Between 5 and 8 inches of rain have already fallen, with an additional 1 to 3 inches expected. Flash flooding is currently occurring or is imminent.

“This is a particularly dangerous situation,” officials warned. Residents are urged to seek higher ground immediately to avoid life-threatening flash flooding. The flash flood emergency covers key locations including Breaux Bridge, Arnaudville, Henderson, Cecilia, the Atchafalaya Welcome Center, and Parks.
