New Orleans, LA (2/20/2023) – The New Orleans Police Department reported that officers apprehended the suspected shooter just moments after shots were fired at the Bacchus Mardi Gras Parade.
The shooting left one dead and four others wounded in the 1600 block of Terpsichore Street last evening, Sunday, February 19, 2023.
NOPD and partnering law enforcement officers were nearby when they heard shots fired around 9:30 pm. Upon arrival at the location, they discovered five victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims included three males and two females. One of the victims is a juvenile. All were taken to the hospital by EMS, where one male victim was later pronounced deceased. The other four victims are reportedly in stable condition.
According to Chief Deputy Superintendent Hans Ganthier, the quick response by NOPD and its partners led to the arrest of a subject suspected of being the perpetrator of this incident. Two weapons were also confiscated.
Aiding in the quick response along with NOPD were officers with the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Department, Louisiana State Police, and the Department of Corrections
