The fire weather watch issued by the National Weather Service in Lake Charles will be in effect on Wednesday.
Central and Southwest Louisiana, along with Southeast Texas, will face increased fire risks due to a passing cold front bringing very dry air and elevated winds.
This watch will remain active from Wednesday morning through the evening. The combination of 15-20 mph winds, gusting up to 25 mph, and morning humidity levels around 20%, will create dangerous fire conditions. Local vegetation is already highly susceptible to fires with KBDI values above 600.
Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged during this period, as any fires could spread rapidly. The fire weather watch alerts residents that these critical conditions may warrant a Red Flag Warning, with updates expected from the National Weather Service. Avoid outdoor activities that could spark flames, and stay informed through weather updates.
Stay cautious and prepared to prevent wildfires as the region endures these hazardous conditions.
