Alexandria, LA (6/3/2025) – A family is grieving and calling for answers after 75-year-old Rodney Bagwell was struck by a vehicle and later died from his injuries in what appears to have been a pedestrian crash near the Home Depot on North MacArthur Drive.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, May 31, 2025, and was first reported by UrbanCast after viewers submitted images showing a heavy emergency response near the entrance off Masonic Drive. Law enforcement and emergency personnel were observed on the scene, but no immediate details were released by officials.
Mr. Bagwell was initially transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to a medical facility in Baton Rouge, where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, June 1.
On Monday, June 2, the Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed to UrbanCast:
“On the afternoon of 05/31/2025, Mr. Rodney Bagwell, age 75, of Alexandria, was struck by a vehicle on North MacArthur Drive. He was transported to the hospital and expired the following day, 06/01/2025, due to significant injuries.”
Family’s Frustration
Despite confirmation from the Coroner’s Office, the Bagwell family says they have received no direct communication from the Alexandria Police Department, and no public statement has been approved for release. One family member reported being told that only Mr. Bagwell himself could request information, a response that was both confusing and deeply hurtful, considering his passing.
Compounding their frustration, a relative posted publicly on Facebook that a person appeared to have been taken into custody at the scene, though this remains unconfirmed by law enforcement. Another family member voiced concern about inconsistent communication among agencies, saying those listed as next of kin were not provided timely information or official contact. Yet another questioned whether something is being withheld or if someone is being protected.
At this time, the Alexandria Police Department has not confirmed the details surrounding the incident, and the identity or legal status of any individuals involved has not been officially released.
From all of us at UrbanCast and InvolvedInItAll.com, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Rodney Bagwell. No family should have to fight for basic answers while mourning. We stand with them in their call for clarity, transparency, and accountability.
This is a developing story. UrbanCast will continue to follow the case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
