Ville Platte, LA (2/3/2024) – On February 27, 2024, detectives with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office received crucial information regarding the whereabouts of two wanted fugitives, Tylan Thomas and Jaylon Thomas.
Both individuals were wanted on serious charges, including attempted first-degree murder and illegal possession of weapons.
According to the information received, the suspects were believed to be inside a silver Chevy Impala parked at a residence on the 700 block of MLK Dr. in Ville Platte. The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office deployed a drone to track the vehicle’s movements.
The drone monitored the vehicle as it left the initial residence and parked again on the 700 block of Court St. Detectives on the ground were then provided with precise information about the suspects’ location.
In a coordinated effort involving Evangeline Parish Deputies, City Police, and City Marshalls, law enforcement officers moved to apprehend the suspects. Jaylon Thomas was apprehended without incident at the scene, while Tylan Thomas attempted to flee on foot. However, he was later captured hiding under a residence on the 200 block of W. Hickory St.
Following the arrests, detectives obtained a search warrant for the vehicle occupied by the fugitives. Inside, they discovered an AR-15 style rifle, a 9mm handgun, and illegal narcotics, adding further charges to the ongoing investigation.
