18 inmates at the Livingston Parish Detention Center obtained their HiSET (GED)

Livingston Parish, La. (11/6/2022) – Eleven males and seven females graduated from the HiSET Program at the Livingston Parish Detention Center. The HiSET (former GED) program allows adults to obtain the High School equivalency diploma. Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office & the Department of Corrections partnered to make this opportunity available to offenders in Livingston Parish.

Warden Ballard addressed the graduates he applauded them for ‘taking this opportunity to move forward in life. He said this is a first step in turning your lives around & ‘never having to look back at the past. Warden also urged the graduates to develop a ‘faithful foundation for a prosperous future.

In addition to graduation ceremonies, the Department of Corrections recognized the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office for graduating the most offenders (obtaining their HiSETs) in the State of Louisiana at a parish facility!
