Early Morning Shooting at Sixth Street and Willow Glen River Road Leaves One Injured

Alexandria, LA (6/28/2024) – Early this morning, at approximately 12:30 AM, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) responded to a shooting incident at the intersection of Sixth Street and Willow Glen River Road.

According to police reports, one individual sustained minor injuries from gunfire and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The specific nature of the injuries are unknown.

Multiple eyewitnesses reported hearing shots fired in the area. Police tape was put up, and officers were seen canvassing the scene as part of their investigation.

In their press release, the APD did not confirm whether a suspect had been identified or if the incident was isolated. This shooting adds to a series of violent incidents in Alexandria over the past two weeks, including three individuals shot on Father’s Day, one murder on Tuesday, a double murder on Simmons Street, and numerous unreported shootings throughout the city.
