Double Homicide Suspect Captured in Caddo Parish after Intensive Manhunt

Caddo Parish, LA (4/20/2024) – In a dramatic turn of events, Michael McKnight, 26, the prime suspect in a recent double homicide, was apprehended by authorities in Caddo Parish. The arrest came following a comprehensive search operation initiated after McKnight was spotted on a resident’s security camera.

Caddo Sheriff Jay Long disclosed that the series of events leading to McKnight’s capture unfolded when patrol deputies were dispatched to conduct a residential check at a residence in the 3600 block of Back Path Road in Blanchard. It was during this time that a vigilant resident noticed a man resembling McKnight on their security footage, prompting immediate action.

A coordinated effort involving Caddo patrol deputies, the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, Caddo K9 deputies, and the David Wade Correction Chase Team swiftly ensued. A perimeter was established near Walter B. Jacob Park, where McKnight was eventually located.

Sgt. Larry Pierce of the Caddo patrol revealed that McKnight was found in a primitive shelter beneath a fallen tree inside the park. The arrest was executed by Caddo Sheriff’s K9 – Corporal Marc Herring, who successfully apprehended McKnight on the scene.

Following his capture, McKnight was transported to the Caddo Correction Center for further investigation by sheriff’s detectives. Subsequent inquiries led to Detective Matt Purgerson formally charging McKnight with the murder of Roderick McKnight, 64, and Kathleen McKnight, 62, who were found deceased at their residence on Attaway Hill Lane on April 18.

Michael McKnight now faces two counts of second-degree murder as he awaits legal proceedings in Caddo Parish. The swift and efficient response by law enforcement agencies has been commended, bringing a sense of closure to the community in the wake of this tragic incident.
