Denham Springs: Police officer injured in shopping center shooting; suspect later dies at hospital

Denham Springs, LA (5/11/2023) – The Denham Springs Police Department (DSPD) reported an officer was shot and is in critical condition.

Officers responded to a disturbance at a shopping center located near I – 12 in Denham Springs around 4 pm today, May 11, 2023.

When DSPD Officers arrived on the scene, they were met with gunfire.  One officer was hit multiple times.  That officer is currently at a local hospital with critical injuries.  

The name of the injured officer is being withheld at this time.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) reported the suspect fled the original scene and traveled towards 190 on South Range, where LPSO deputies responded.  The suspect was shot and transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries listed

DSPD identified the suspect as Justin Roberts, 30, of Denham Springs
