Marksville, LA (12/26/2023) – The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) reported a Cottonport man escaped from the DC-1 Jail Facility in Marksville, Louisiana.
According to APSO, the inmate battered and overpowered a Correctional Officer at the doorway where an Officer was entering the jail.
The escapee is Joseph T. Ewing, 20, of Cottonport, Louisiana.
APSO, Louisiana Department of Corrections / Raymond Laborde Correctional Center (RLCC) Chase Team, and other local police agencies responded to assist in locating the escapee. Tracking K9s are on the ground in search of the escapee.
The investigation and search are ongoing.
APSO asks anyone with information on Ewing’s whereabouts to call 911 or call the Sheriff’s Office at 318-253-4000.
