Colorado: Student pilot lands plane after it loses power

Adams County, CO (7/9/2023) – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) reported a student pilot safely landed a plane after it lost power shortly after take off.

The student pilot took from the Front Range Airport around 1 pm, Saturday, July 8, 2023. The Front Range Airport is about 30 miles east of Denver.

Fox 31 Denver reports:

According to ACSO officials, the student pilot got about 100 ft of altitude when the aircraft suddenly lost power. The pilot kept his cool and safely landed in a field about a half mile east of Peterson Road

A few power lines were struck causing Hwy 36 to be closed between Peterson Road and Harback Road as utility crews repair the downed lines.

The plane was able to be towed by a Ram 1500 truck back to the airfield with an official police escort.
