Colfax man sentenced to life in prison without parole for murdering Mr. Kevin Hammond, Jr.

Alexandria, LA (7/17/2023) – A Colfax man was convicted in connection to the November 2021 murder of Mr. Kevin Hammond, Jr., 18, and was sentenced to life.

Dexta Hall, 24, was convicted by a jury and found guilty of second-degree murder on June 29, 2023. Hall was sentenced on Monday, July 17, 2023, to life in prison without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence for his involvement in Mr. Hammond’s death in November 2021.

According to Brooke Buford with KALB, Mr. Hammond’s aunt said ahead of sentencing:

“I pray one day I learn to find forgiveness in my heart,” said Booze. “Until then, may God have mercy on your soul.”

Deltrevious Conston pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and was sentenced to 30 years in prison in October 2022. Charley Brown of Colfax pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of manslaughter on Monday, June 26, 2023. Brown was sentenced on July 10, 2023, to 20 years in prison.
