On Monday, April 14, 2025, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, working alongside the Colfax Police Department, apprehended Kendarius Nelson in Ball, Louisiana.
Authorities say the arrest followed an extensive joint investigation into a shooting that occurred on December 2, 2024, on Eleanor Street in Colfax.
Nelson was wanted for his alleged role in the incident and now faces multiple serious charges, including:
- Seven counts of Criminal Conspiracy
- Seven counts of Assault by Drive-by Shooting

- Simple Criminal Damage to Property
His bond was set at $250,000.
In addition to the Colfax Police Department charges, Nelson had active warrants through Grant Parish for Contempt of Court and Carrying a Firearm on School Property. He also faces two counts of Resisting an Officer stemming from the arrest itself.
Following his capture, Nelson was transported to Rapides Parish Jail for booking.
“This arrest demonstrates the strength of interagency collaboration and the impact community involvement has in bringing violent offenders to justice,” said Colfax Police Chief Edward Butler. He extended thanks to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the public for their continued support.
The investigation is still ongoing.
