Rapides Parish, LA (8/18/2025) – A Colfax man was arrested after a Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation into allegations of third degree rape.
In December 2024, RPSO received a complaint regarding possible criminal sexual conduct involving a juvenile. According to the initial report, the incident occurred in early November. Detectives immediately opened a case for further investigation.
Through several witness statements and multiple forensic interviews conducted with the Children’s Advocacy Center, detectives identified a suspect. The suspect was later confirmed as Herbert Joseph Poisso, 18, of Colfax.
From the evidence gathered, detectives established probable cause supporting the allegations. Therefore, a warrant was obtained for Poisso’s arrest on one count of third degree rape.
On August 13, 2025, with help from the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office, Poisso was located at his Colfax residence. Deputies took him into custody without incident and booked him into the Grant Parish Jail awaiting extradition.
On August 14, 2025, authorities transported Poisso back to Rapides Parish. He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center, where he remains on a $100,000 bond.
