Alexandria, LA (7/25/2025) – On Thursday, July 24, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Alexandria Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 400 block of Chester Street.
The vehicle involved was identified as a City of Alexandria-owned vehicle, operated by Levi Phillips, a 58-year-old employee of the City of Alexandria Street Department.
According to the Alexandria Police Department, Mr. Phillips was performing his official duties at the time of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
“This is a tragic loss that deeply impacts the City of Alexandria and all who knew and worked with Mr. Phillips,” a statement from the Alexandria Police Department said. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time.”
The crash remains under investigation, and authorities are seeking additional information.
