ALEXANDRIA, LA (5/19/2025) – A Church Point man remains behind bars following a major fentanyl arrest in Alexandria that authorities say could have had deadly consequences.
The Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit announced the arrest of 20-year-old William Cameron Leblanc after agents uncovered over one pound of suspected fentanyl during a search of two motel rooms he occupied in Alexandria. The arrest followed two anonymous tips received in early May, alleging narcotics activity at the location.
Through surveillance operations, agents observed Leblanc conducting multiple hand-to-hand drug transactions. On May 15, 2025, agents executed search warrants and took Leblanc into custody without incident. Inside the rooms, they recovered three softball-sized plastic bags of suspected fentanyl, totaling one pound and nine ounces (approximately 25 ounces), along with marijuana, a digital scale, a small-caliber handgun, and drug packaging materials. Authorities also seized $3,294 in cash.
According to law enforcement, fentanyl is estimated to have a Louisiana street value of $100 to $150 per gram. Based on that estimate, the seized amount, roughly 709 grams, could be worth between $70,900 and $106,350 on the street.
According to official sources, just two milligrams of fentanyl can be lethal. The amount seized could represent more than 350,000 potential lethal doses, underscoring the danger posed by the operation.
