Alexandria/Pineville, La. (3/22/2026) – Central Louisiana robotics teams are headed to the world stage after a big showing at the VEX Robotics State Championship.
Team 78843A, Lil Teletubbies, from Arthur F. Smith Middle Magnet School and Team 21555C, Sonic Forces, from LCU Wildcats Homeschool won the Teamwork Champion Award. They secured the title together in the teamwork finals.
Team Lil T includes eighth graders Broderick M., La’Mya D., Chance M., and Nevaeh P. Kapryce Yarbrough coaches the team.
They also earned the Excellence Award, which recognizes overall performance in design, coding, and competition. The team said making it to Worlds has been their goal since sixth grade.
Team Sonic Forces includes Adelynn M., Dawson P., Lena T., and Levi T., with students ranging from fourth to eighth grade. Jacob and Lauren Thompson coach the team.
They earned the Design Award and have picked up nine awards this season. This is their first year competing. They said the Worlds qualification makes the long hours worth it.
Both Central Louisiana robotics teams will now compete at the VEX Robotics World Championship against top teams from around the world.
Community support will be important as they prepare. Businesses and residents can help through sponsorships and fundraising.
