According to the official press release, officers encountered a 23-year-old Alexandria woman who was reportedly experiencing a mental health crisis. She was located in the backyard of a residence.
When officers approached, the woman produced a handgun, placed it to her head, and shouted for officers to kill her. After repeated commands for her to drop the weapon, she pulled the trigger. The gun discharged into the air, narrowly avoiding a fatal outcome.
