Alexandria, LA (2/10/2024) – The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has issued an urgent alert following a escape from the Rapides Parish Detention Center 3. At approximately 8:30 PM, an inmate managed to scale the facility’s fence during recreation time, sparking a dynamic search effort by law enforcement.
The escapee has been identified as Devacheay Tray Martin, a 23-year-old resident of Pineville. According to initial reports, Martin successfully evaded authorities after climbing the fence. Deputies secured the remaining inmates and launched a comprehensive search operation to locate Martin.
Martin’s criminal history raises serious concerns for public safety. While the exact nature of his current charges remains unclear, authorities reveal that he was booked into the detention center on February 8, 2024, with allegations potentially linked to a recent shooting incident on Magnolia Street, as reported by the Alexandria Police Department.
Additionally, Martin faces charges of Parole Violation stemming from a prior burglary conviction, along with allegations of theft of a motor vehicle and simple battery. Given his extensive record and the nature of his offenses, Martin is considered extremely dangerous, heightening the urgency of his capture.
Described as a 23-year-old black male, standing at 5’5” and weighing approximately 145 pounds, Martin was last seen wearing gray sweatpants while being held in isolation.
