WINNSBORO, La. (1/4/2025) – An alleged bomb threat at Winnsboro Walmart prompted the evacuation of staff and customers on January 3rd, at approximately 10:15 PM.
The Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Office, responded alongside the Winnsboro Police Department, Louisiana State Police Troop F, and Walmart’s security team.
The threat was made in person at the store, leading to a coordinated response to secure the area and protect everyone present. After an investigation, authorities declared the store safe and two individuals at a local residence were taken into custody.
By 1:30 AM on January 4, 2025, the store was cleared, and employees were allowed to re-enter. Sheriff Cobb praised the collaborative efforts of all involved, emphasizing the importance of treating such threats with the utmost seriousness.
“When a call is reported of this nature, law enforcement and store officials always treat a possible threat very seriously,” Cobb said. “I am thankful we quickly identified the suspects, placed them in custody, and deemed the store safe.”
Sheriff Cobb extended his gratitude to all first responders and Walmart staff for their bravery and coordination. “Their teamwork ensured the store was safely reopened without further incident,” he added.
