On October 13, 2023, CPSO received a missing person complaint of a 55-year-old Jonesville, LA resident, Tia Renee Wiley Adams. During the course of the investigation, CPSO Detectives, along with the Jonesville Police Department (JPD), began searching areas around Jonesville and surrounding areas for Adams.
CPSO detectives put Adams into the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) database as a missing person. As the investigation continued and Law Enforcement continued to search for Adams, CPSO received a lead that Adams could possibly be the victim of a homicide.
CPSO detectives, along with JPD, went to the address of 1215 Stella Street, Jonesville, Louisiana, where they made contact with 53-year-old George Thomas, Jr. During this time, detectives prepared a search warrant for Thomas’ property and residence. During the search of Thomas’ residence, detectives located the body of a female subject in a container behind Thomas’ residence.
The body was sent off for an autopsy and was later identified as 55-year-old Tia Renee Wiley Adams. George Thomas, Jr. was detained and later booked into the Catahoula Parish Jail on a warrant from the Jonesville Police Dept. for Aggravated Battery.

Sheriff Toney Edwards would like to commend his employees and JPD for their hard work in finding Renee. Although the outcome wasn’t what we wanted, we are glad to get some closure for the family. However, the investigation is still ongoing, and other arrests are pending.
