Ball man arrested for multiple burglaries in October and November of 2022

Pineville, LA. (1/21/2023) – Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office that a Ball man was arrested for multiple burglaries.

On October 24th, 2022, Patrol Deputies responded to the 6000 block of Magnolia Road in Pineville, LA, about a burglary. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the victim, who stated that they had been gone a few days and noticed damage to their residence’s back door on their return.

Upon further investigation, the victim noticed that several items in their residence were missing, including credit cards, private documents, and some collectible silver coins.  Deputies took the initial report, and Sheriff’s Detectives from the Tioga Substation followed up on the investigation.

Sheriff’s Detectives began their investigation and learned of another reported burglary in the 1000 block of Jag Rd in Pineville, LA. With the two residences being less than a mile apart, Detectives could identify a suspect and conclude that both burglaries were connected. While the investigation was ongoing, another burglary was reported at the 500 block of Philadelphia Rd on November 1, 2022.  Detectives responded to that residence, found similarities in the burglary, and concluded that it would be connected to Jag Road and Magnolia Road burglaries.

Through their investigation, and with the help of video surveillance and evidence collected at the scenes, Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Anthony Lee Wells, 36, of Ball, LA.  Detectives could establish sufficient probable cause to obtain arrest warrants for  Wells for one count of Simple Burglary.  On November 16, 2022, Wells was taken into custody in Avoyelles Parish for out-of-parish charges, and Rapides Detectives placed a detainer on him for active warrants for RPSO.

On January 17, 2023, Wells was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center, where he was booked on outstanding warrants and warrants for the burglaries on Magnolia and Philadelphia Road.

Sheriff’s Detectives say this is still an active investigation, and more arrests could be made.  If anyone has any information about these crimes, please contact Detective Matt Dauzat, Criminal Investigations, Tioga Substation at 318-641-6010.
