Arson Fire at 2211 North MacArthur Drive Prompts Multi-Agency Response

Alexandria, LA (12/24/2024) – The Alexandria Fire Department (AFD) responded to an arson fire at 2211 North MacArthur Drive on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Firefighters were dispatched at 6:21 PM and arrived within three minutes of the initial alarm.

AFD deployed three engine companies, a ladder company, a medical unit, a district chief’s unit, and a fire investigator. Units from Rapides Fire District #2, Alexandria Police Department, Louisiana State Troopers, and a private ambulance company were also observed at the scene.

The extent of the damage remains unreported, and no injuries have been confirmed at this time. The cause of the fire was determined to be arson, and investigations are ongoing.

The unoccupied property has been the site of multiple fires in the past. On February 10, 2024, AFD responded to a fully involved building fire at the same location. That fire required six engine companies, two aerial companies, and two district chief units. One firefighter sustained injuries in that incident.

The property has also been a subject of ongoing discussions within the Alexandria City Council. In February, concerns were raised about the lack of representation from the property’s owners at a council meeting. Mayor Jacques Roy addressed the issue, stating a mandate to remove unsafe structures to make way for better developments.

Residents with information about the fire or suspicious activity are urged to contact the Alexandria Fire Department at 318-441-6620.

As investigations continue, the property’s history and its role in broader community discussions remain in focus. For updates, stay tuned to UrbanCast.
