Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation in Forest Hill Area

Forest Hill, LA (6/26/2024) – On June 23rd, 2024, at approximately 8:10 PM, deputies responded to a disturbance call on Boy Scout Road in the Forest Hill area, initially reported as a subject being run over.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased male, later identified as Billy Stanley, 53, of Oakdale, who had sustained fatal injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Bryan Oneal Johnson, 53, of Forest Hill, was located and questioned by deputies. Sheriff’s Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit arrived to conduct a thorough investigation. The Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office transported Stanley’s body from the scene.

Through their investigation, Detectives discovered that a verbal altercation between Stanley and Johnson had occurred, which allegedly led to Johnson running over Stanley. Interviews with witnesses and evidence at the scene provided sufficient probable cause to support the witness statements. Detectives obtained a warrant for Johnson’s arrest on charges of Second Degree Murder.

On the morning of June 24th, Johnson was arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He is currently being held on a $300,000 bond. Sheriff’s Detectives have stated that the investigation is ongoing.

“All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law or administrative action.”
