Alexandria, La. (12/8/2025) – The domestic-related shooting on Olive Street remains under investigation; however, police have made an arrest.
The Alexandria Police Department responded to a shooting in the 1700 block of Olive Street on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 11:58 am. Officers found one person injured and transported the victim to a local hospital.
Yesterday, APD released initial details confirming the shooting and the victim’s transport to the hospital. That update noted the investigation remained open.
Today, APD announced the arrest of 35-year-old James Mims, who police say is connected to the domestic-related shooting. Officers arrested Mims later the same day. APD charged him with aggravated second-degree battery and felon in possession of a firearm.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue gathering information. APD encourages the public to share any details that may assist the case.
