APD releases Monroe Street stabbing details after 45-hour delay; suspect identified

Alexandria, La. (4/13/2026) — A stabbing on Monroe Street is now confirmed, after a delay in information that raised concern across the community.

The incident occurred on Saturday, April 11, around 11:45 a.m. in the 2500 block of Monroe Street. Police say one person was stabbed and transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

That information was not released publicly until 8:54 a.m. on Monday, April 13. The gap between the incident and the official release spans approximately 45 hours.

During that time, details circulated online as residents questioned why no official information had been shared.

Now, the Alexandria Police Department has identified the suspect as 33-year-old Christopher Farris. Authorities say Farris has an active warrant for attempted manslaughter and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.

Before the release, video from the scene showed a chaotic situation involving multiple individuals. However, the full context remained unclear without official confirmation.

The delay in communication added to community concern. Incidents involving violent crime require timely updates to maintain public trust and limit speculation.

This remains an active investigation. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact APD Detectives at (318) 441-6416 or dispatch at (318) 441-6559.
