APD Policy Requiring Mayoral Permission Delays Report on Monroe and MacArthur Shooting

Alexandria, LA (11/18/2025) – The Alexandria Police Department released information eight days after officers responded to gunfire at Monroe Street and MacArthur Drive.

APD gave no specific reason for the delay. However, department policy requires mayoral permission before releasing any public information. Because of this policy, the public received no official update for more than a week.

The shots fired call came on November 10 at 9:50 PM. Officers confirmed there were no injuries. Yet residents immediately contacted UrbanCast with messages, comments, and videos. Many asked if the shooting was isolated. Those concerns went unanswered because APD could not release details without approval.

On November 17, detectives arrested 19-year-old Jordan Welch. APD charged Welch with attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The arrest followed continued investigative work.

However, APD is still searching for 30-year-old Cameron Jackson. Jackson is described as a male, 5’10”, and 190 pounds. He has an active warrant for aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The investigation remains open. APD asks the public to help locate Jackson. Anyone with information should contact the Alexandria Police Detective Division at (318) 441-6416 or APD Dispatch at (318) 441-6559. Tips may also be sent to APDDetectives@cityofalex.com.

For anonymous rewards, residents may contact Crime Stoppers of CenLa at (318) 443-7867 or use the P3 Tipster App at www.p3tips.com/community/mobile.

UrbanCast first reported the activity on November 10. Witnesses heard gunfire near the Exxon at MacArthur and Monroe. Police quickly blocked the area with yellow tape during the initial response.

Residents remain concerned because official information arrived eight days later. The delay left the community without clarity during an active investigation.
