ALEXANDRIA, LA (4/22/2025) — For the first time in years, Alexandria experienced a peaceful Easter weekend with no reports of major violent incidents, marking a break from what has historically been a high-crime holiday period.
Between Friday and midnight Sunday, the Alexandria Police Department reported no serious batteries, shootings, or other acts involving dangerous weapons.
This stands in contrast to previous Easter weekends, which have often seen spikes in violent crime both locally and nationwide.
Officials Attribute
Officials attribute the calm weekend to proactive policing strategies, including intelligence-led patrols and increased law enforcement presence in areas previously identified as crime hotspots.
Authorities continue to encourage community cooperation and information sharing.
The department confirmed that uniformed officers and investigative divisions were actively deployed throughout the holiday to deter violence and ensure community safety.
Anyone with knowledge of criminal activity is urged to contact the Alexandria Police Detective Division at (318) 441-6416 or APD Dispatch at (318) 441-6559.
Tips may also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers of CenLa at (318) 443-7867 or via the P3 Tipster App.
