Alexandria Police Department Arrests 18-Year-Old Suspected of Attempted Second-Degree Murder; Current Bond Set at $500,000

Alexandria, LA (July 3, 2024) – Wednesday morning, at approximately 5:30 AM, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) executed a search warrant in the 2800 block of 3rd Street, leading to the arrest of 18-year-old Jaquarrius Brevelle.

Brevelle has been charged with one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder, one count of Possession of a Machine Gun, and one count of Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

This arrest occurred in the same area where UrbanCast conducted a live report this morning. However, it remains unclear whether Brevelle was apprehended at the first or second house raided. Additionally, it is uncertain which specific Fred Loop shooting incident this arrest pertains to, as there have been multiple unsolved shootings in the Fred Loop area.

UrbanCast reached out to the APD’s Public Information Officer (PIO) earlier today and received a response at 6:12 PM, stating, “Michael Caffery, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, coordinates all media inquiries and public relations for the City of Alexandria. To ensure the quality and consistency of information disseminated, please refer any requests to michael.caffery@cityofalex.com. Thank you.”

We want to acknowledge that the APD’s PIO is an officer with integrity and possesses the skills necessary to fully execute the job duties of PIO.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information about this incident or any other crimes in the Alexandria area to contact the Alexandria Police Detective Division at (318) 441-6416 or APD Dispatch at (318) 441-6559. Tips can also be emailed to APDDetectives@cityofalex.com.
