Alexandria Police Arrest Danny Prenell, on Domestic Abuse Charges

Alexandria, LA (2/21/2024) – Danny Prenell, a resident of Alexandria and a Pineville Pastor, was arrested by the Alexandria Police Department (APD) today and subsequently booked into the Rapides Jail. According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office Inmate Inquiry System, Prenell is facing charges of Domestic Abuse and is currently awaiting extradition proceedings.

According to the McComb Police Department, Danny Prenell Jr. was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence, disorderly conduct, and disturbing a business. Prenell Jr. was suspected of shooting his wife, Gabriell Pernell, twice and then turning the gun on himself on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at a Hampton Inn Hotel around 3 pm.

When questioned about why Prenell was not charged with some form of murder, McComb’s Police Chief Cloy stated, “You must prove a suspect’s intent was murder.” The aggravated domestic violence charge is a felony in Mississippi, while the charges of disorderly conduct and disturbing a business are misdemeanors. Prenell, Jr. bond was set at $500,000 in Mississippi.

Details surrounding today’s arrest, including the condition of the victim and whether she was indeed his wife, remain undisclosed at this time. Furthermore, the timeline of Prenell’s release from a Mississippi jail following the initial incident has not been revealed.
