Alexandria, LA (11/12/2024) – The Alexandria-Pineville Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is hosting the second round of open houses for the MPA Stormwater Study, aiming to improve stormwater mitigation and strengthen regional resilience.
These meetings, scheduled before the recent major storm on Saturday, come at a critical time as Alexandria faces increasing flooding challenges.
The public is encouraged to attend these open houses to share input. The first session will take place on November 13 at the Westside Regional Library in Alexandria, and the second on November 14 at the Main Street Community Center in Pineville. Both sessions will run from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
These open houses will showcase findings from the first round of public input and focus on proposed projects to address regional drainage issues. The MPA Stormwater Study is working with a $2.5 million budget to target specific areas in Alexandria and Pineville for flood mitigation improvements.
Saturday’s storm led to significant flooding across Alexandria, with streets submerged and numerous neighborhoods impacted. The flooding highlights the urgent need for effective stormwater solutions, as residents faced road closures and property damage.
