Alexandria, LA (1/18/2024) – The Alexandria Police Department (APD) responded on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, around 3:30 PM to the 3200 block of MacArthur Drive, near Tractor Supply, following the theft of a red 1997 Ford Mustang.
The subsequent events unfolded with a brief pursuit and the arrest of a 13-year-old juvenile.
Approximately an hour after the initial report, an APD Officer spotted the stolen vehicle in the area of Lincoln Road and Hudson Boulevard. Attempting to stop the vehicle initiated a brief vehicle pursuit, followed by a foot chase. The juvenile suspect was successfully taken into custody and charged with one count of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and one count of Resisting an Officer.
The investigation revealed that the juvenile was an escapee from a group home in Baton Rouge, LA. The reason for the juvenile being in state custody remains unknown at this time.
According to accounts from neighbors, the stolen Mustang was abandoned on Southland Street. The suspect then fled behind houses, where he was later apprehended by APD. Witnesses reported that the juvenile was found hiding in a vehicle.
