TIOGA, La. (6/23/2025) — Rapides Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 19-year-old Alexandria man in connection with a home invasion and gunfire incident that occurred Sunday morning in Tioga.
At approximately 8:15 AM on June 22, deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 1500 block of Hyland Park Drive. Initial reports stated that the suspect, later identified as Jiyason K. Singleton, was refusing to leave and attempting to force his way into the home. Gunshots were reportedly fired during the incident.
Upon arrival, deputies detained two individuals for further investigation. No injuries were reported.
Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit began processing the scene. According to witness statements and evidence collected, Singleton arrived uninvited, entered the home without permission, and brandished a handgun. In response, the victim fired at Singleton, who fled into the front yard where deputies found him.
