Alexandria Man Arrested for Second Degree Murder

Alexandria, LA (7/1/2024) – Authorities have arrested Robert Drakes III, a 21-year-old resident of Alexandria, on charges of second-degree murder.

Drakes was apprehended on the evening of June 30, 2024, and is currently being held at the Rapides Parish Detention Center 1.

According to the booking records, Drakes was detained at 11:01 PM and formally charged with second-degree murder just minutes later at 11:07 PM. His bond has been set at $1,000,000. The nature and circumstances of the crime have not yet been disclosed by the authorities.

This is not Drakes’ first run-in with the law. Earlier this year, he was booked on February 13, 2024, for armed robbery and for being a fugitive from Louisiana. At that time, his bond was set at $150,000. Drakes was released on February 26, 2024, after serving time pre-trial.
