Alexandria, La. (2/27/2026) – Alexandria daycare worker arrested following an investigation into alleged cruelty to juveniles at a local daycare. Authorities say the case began after a parent filed a complaint earlier this month.
On February 9, 2026, Rapides Parish Patrol Deputies responded to a report in Alexandria. A parent alleged their child was the victim of a battery by a daycare employee. As a result, detectives with the Special Victims Unit immediately launched an investigation.
During the investigation, detectives contacted the daycare owner, who cooperated fully. The owner provided video evidence, which investigators reviewed. Subsequently, detectives identified the suspect as Shanice Nicole Mack, 33, of Pineville.
As the case progressed, SVU detectives uncovered additional evidence. Investigators identified two more juvenile victims connected to the same alleged perpetrator. In addition, detectives conducted forensic interviews with the victims. They also interviewed multiple past and current staff members.
Based on the findings, detectives established sufficient probable cause supporting the original allegations. Therefore, authorities secured arrest warrants for Mack.
On February 25, 2026, Mack received notification of the warrants. Accompanied by her attorney, she voluntarily surrendered to SVU detectives. Authorities arrested her and booked her into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. She faces two counts of Cruelty to Juveniles and one count of Simple Battery. Bond was set at $20,500. Mack was released later that day.
