ALEXANDRIA, La. (3/10/2026) — Alexandria police are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday night in the 1800 block of Bacon Street.
According to the Alexandria Police Department, officers responded to the area around 10:35 p.m. on March 9 in reference to a shooting. One individual was injured and transported to a local hospital.
The Alexandria Bacon Street shooting remains under investigation.
Earlier that evening, residents in the East Texas area reported hearing rapid bursts of gunfire around 10:15 p.m. Witnesses reported the sounds near Marilyn Anne Street and Lynda Lee Street, just off East Texas Avenue.
Additionally, neighbors reported hearing the gunfire on Overton, Mason, and Lee Streets. Several residents described the sound as multiple rounds fired in quick succession.
When officers arrived, the victim spoke with police as officers provided first aid at the scene. The victim told officers he had just left a nearby store and was riding his bicycle when he noticed several individuals nearby.
“I was just coming back from the store,” the man told officers. “Something told me to turn around and look. When I turned around and looked, they just started blowing at me.”
According to the victim, the individuals appeared to be moving through the area when they opened fire. He also told officers he believed he heard someone say something just before the shots were fired.
“I think they said, ‘Yeah, that’s him,’ or something like that,” he said.
The victim told officers he does not know why he was targeted.
“I don’t even know why they shot me”
“I don’t even know why they shot me,” he said. “I don’t bother nobody. I was just coming back from the store.”
Neighbors gathered as officers assisted the victim before he was transported to a local hospital.
This incident marks the second shooting reported in Alexandria on Monday evening.
Earlier that night, police responded to a separate shooting along the MacArthur Drive corridor.
At this time, authorities have not released information regarding possible suspects or whether the incidents are connected.
