Accidental Shooting Involving Minors on Chester Street Deepens Safety Concerns in Alexandria

Alexandria, La. (12/7/2025) – An accidental shooting involving two minors left an eight-year-old in critical condition on Saturday.

The accidental shooting involving minors in Alexandria happened around 11:45 am in the 100 block of Chester Street. Police said an eight-year-old and a ten-year-old found a gun. While playing with it, the gun discharged and struck the younger child.

Emergency crews transported the eight-year-old to a local hospital. Police have not released updates on the child’s condition. Officers also have not said who owned the gun or whether any adults were present. They did not clarify whether the weapon had been secured before the minors found it. The investigation remains active.

Earlier in the day, UrbanCast received reports of a possible shooting on Chester Street. APD units were observed responding to the area.
