Wise County, Tx. (12/3/2022) – According to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Lane Akin confirmed that 7-year-old Athena Strand’s body was found Friday afternoon six miles from her home in Boyd, Texas.
Tanner Lynn Horner, 31, of Lake Worth, Texas, has been arrested and charged with capital murder and aggravated kidnapping.
Sheriff Akin said a tip led them to the contract FedEx driver, who detectives believed to have abducted Athena from her home on Wednesday evening. The sheriff said Horner confessed to kidnapping Athena. Sheriff Akin also said Athena likely died an hour after her abduction.
Horner is being held in the Wise County Jail. He is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
